Pluto is the planet of personal power. It’s what chains it up (our shadows, systems that control us, traumas, coping mechanisms, additions). It’s what makes people turn into tyrants (an unquenchable thirst to hold power over other people at whatever cost, another chain in itself. The quest for power owns you). In its divine status, it’s the desire to hold COMPLETE power, but only over the self. To not be bound by any of the chains of the underworld.

This power is meeting up with the power of sudden change, evolution, and progress.

It’s the kind of combination that makes you get a little nervous when a Uranus/Pluto person goes “watch this”. Because you’re likely to see some chaotic scene play out that comes from someone’s shadow, chains, and wounding playing out. For some reason JackAss comes to mind? “Look, I can handle pain and everyone is laughing at me.” I can’t quite conjure up images of an idyllic childhood in folks who take this route.

Conversely, you have someone who has the ability to go against the grain, not caring what other people think about them…but with an electric charism that can get people on board with their ideas.

There’s no denying this is a POWERFUL combination to have in your life. But with great power comes great responsibility in finding how to guide it effectively in your life.

Shadow:

If you’re drawn to me, I assume that you yourself do not have the darkest of these shadows. Which is, someone who is drawn to hurting others. We go back into the quest for power which Pluto brings and the excitement of chaotic situations that Uranus brings, and we get nothing more thrilling than hunting and hurting others less “powerful”. That of course though, is the darkest shadow.

Most shadows under this influence come from easier shadows…that when not investigated and integrated fully come out to play on spontaneous adventures. It's getting triggered by something and then a shadow takes over in an act of rebellion. Running off and getting married. Sleeping with someone you would never imagine sleeping with even a day prior. Blowing all your money on a trip to the Casino. There are so many ways that the shadows like to come out and play. And with this placement it likely won’t creep up on you. Face a big emotional threat, and something snaps and needs to be released.

In that shadow too are big emotional outbursts. Feeling like you’ve got a handle on deep dark things or even just your emotions, and then something cracks you open and next thing you know you’re mad as hell and the power from that emotion feels like enough to run an entire substation.

Finally, anytime you’re playing in the darker realms. You may start with this open honesty…this willingness to explore the taboo and question it. It’s one thing to be willing to face the abyss. It’s another to be lured into it. Fall into a pit of despair that becomes hard to come out of.

Power:

I love focusing on the power of this one. Because you’re someone who can create breakthroughs in yourself and others. You’re someone who can sit with someone’s darkness. You’re someone who won’t flinch with the harsher truths of the world. You’ve got a stomach for it. It turns out that it is one of the most powerful healing forces in the world.

There is this force of understanding your own traumas and being able to advocate and create change on a larger scale. For example, maybe a person with this contact was abused as a child and no one at school did anything. That person may go on to create a new system for reporting abuse. It’s deciding to DO something about what you went through, and in turn healing more than just yourself.

A beautiful power to have.

Conjunction:

You have the strongest combination of these two planets. Meaning on the power side, you have the strongest hit of the ability to transcend traumas and things that suck power from your life. You can become a great teacher and guide in this area, sharing a unique perspective or methodology that helps others to heal.

Sextile/Trine:

These forces can work together in a creative way. Allowing you to not only heal yourself but others as well. Much in the same way that the conjunction does, but you’re usually waiting for some other person or an experience outside of yourself to trigger some of your healing capabilities and bring that energy out full force. .

Opposition/square:

You can still access the power of this aspect in your birth chart. But unlike the other aspects, you may have a harder time facing off to some extreme tensions and outbursts. For example, you may have healed some of your traumas and triggers, but a new one crops up and you’re dealing with the anger, frustration, or fear that you had from experiences in your childhood. Grace is what you need to give yourself.
